Is there a list of preferred/required ad servers that Sharethrough has for receiving VAST tags?
We can use VAST tags from any provider, as long as they include the video assets and any necessary trackers.
Do all Native Video campaigns need to serve through a PMP? There are none available on the open exchange?
All DBM placements need to use a video PMP in order to serve to video-enabled placements. If a user does not use a PMP, the Sharethrough Exchange will reject the bid. The use of a PMP is required for Native Video, as we use the Deal ID to filter all the Native Video enabled placements in our exchange.
Are there any other nuances to Native Video creatives in terms of targeting?
Because of how our solution works, DBM does not recognize video creative as video; it is treated as display so targeting recommendations would be the same.
Will I see video metrics in DBM?
For Native Video, you will be able to track all the video events in the platform you used to generate your VAST tag. In DBM, you will only see rendered impressions and clicks (which are click-to-play sound, not click outs).
What if I do not have a VAST tag?
You can use a hosted file and add individual 1x1s to track the video events.
If your DBM advertiser account is linked to your DCM account:
When I get the impression URL from Sharethrough and implement it in the Native creative setup in DBM, do I still have to set up a DCM tracking ad?
If your advertiser account is linked to your DCM account you must create a DCM tracking ad and link it to your DBM dummy creative.
Only the clicks and impressions metrics will be reported in your DCM account under the tracking ad. All video metrics will be reported in the platform where you generated your VAST tag.
If I am using a DCM VAST tag, do I have to set up a separate DCM tracking ad?
Yes, DCM tracking ads and DCM VAST placements are independent.
I do not want to recreate all the DCM tracking ads in DCM, what are my options?
- Create a new advertiser for STX video campaigns and do not link that advertiser account to DBM. Doing this will not require the assignment of a DCM 1:1 to the placements.
- Create a dummy 1x1 tracking ad, assign it to all creative and in DCM have the end date be over or in a paused state. As the flight is expired nothing will be tracking in DCM.
